She's timid and awkward around most others, but behind her exterior is a spectrum of liveliness.[break][break] She's a sweet and lively girl with a passion for art and comics. She's eccentric and quirky - a little fiery too. Deep down she believes that if she were close to someone, she'd protect and spoil them incessantly. She has a fiery temper towards life in general, but with people she's more lenient. Never kissed, never really crushed on anyone except for fictional characters. A part of her is uninterested, yet another insistent part of her fantasizes endlessly with her nose shoved into romance manga. She classifies as pansexual and has hots for. Literally anyone tbh. LENA LEE & Dipper Pines : i like this cat, i like this cat's name and i think these two could be absolutely supurrb.

But no, seriously. My first gut instinct is that he would think she's completely high energy, since everything about her screams nerd-cat otaku with no social graces at all. While Dipper is is no position to judge (since honestly HE is an obsessive nerd who also can't make friends? and can be really anxious?), he's going to anyway for the hell of it. Coupled with the fact that he's baffled by actually having a conversation with a cat-person. Because, as I am sure he said to her, "Now it's only a matter of time before puny, easily-amused humans must submit to their cat masters. Cats have it too easy. I don't trust 'em." I could see Lena, perhaps, thinking he is The Anti-Cat at first and wondering rightfully to herself "what kinda sourpuss hates cats!" (. . . Him. I don't see Dipper as an animal person. Also I realize that she is a shapeshifter, which offers its own plots in addition to cat jokes.)

The fortunate part is that I feel they'd actually like each other if they talked. Since they both go to school, it's easy to just stick them together in some class project and say that Dipper Learned Not to Be Anti-Cat Anymore. He could even stumble on her as a cat trying to ditch school. Either way, I don't think he'd care a lot about her quirky hobbies because in-canon he knows people who are already into that, so he'd probably watch shows with her and they could be hugely lazy in the hours when he is not at work. I was going to suggest math tutoring as a way for them to meet, since her profile says she hates math and he's got a talent in that one school subject no one likes and/or cares about. After a few meetings, I figure they'd warm up to each other and he'd probably treat her more like how he acts with his sister.

Which is to say, all his comments will become cheesy and affectionate teasing: "If you're a cat, so—I'm just wondering—does the island living get to you, or—" and "Look, Lee, your worst nightmare: a puddle of water." As a matter of fact, I will probably go out of my way to make as many IC catgirl jokes as humanly possible, because I'm sure a yelled, out-of-context "I'm looking for a catgirl!" will result in many NPC bystanders answering "um, listen young man, we don't handle that kind of business here."

Their dynamic could be amusing to watch because she comes across as quirky and he's an expert in minding quirky girls thanks to the excitable nature of his equally as weird sister. And I could make an incredible amount of catastrophic cat puns ICly much to Lena Lee's chargin. I feel like he's just devious enough to catch her with a cat pun whenever the oppurrtunity arrives. Whatever the case, it could be a win-win situation even if sometimes I'm sure that Lena is like "say one more cat joke and you are a dead man." ("Pff, hey, easy on the claws! I'm not kitten around here—" go ahead and push him into the ocean, Lena. One more joke was worth it. Dipper would risk death for a punchline.)

sana / LENA LEE & Dipper Pines : Naaaw, don't worry! My response didn't get a gold star for coherency either, haha. It's all good and I'm pretty happy that this dynamic works for you, too. As mentioned, I quite like her so I'm excited!

Anyway . . . tbh is anybody really like, "Wow, please tell me more about algebra! I've always been fascinated by the intricacies of the foil method." (the answer is: nope.) So I don't imagine her attitude is profoundly new or unexpected, and some part of what was intended here was sort of a gag. I feel Dipper started off like "so can i make money/earn credit/skip class if tutoring." And the school said, "sure whatever kid." Lena is allowed her disinterest as long as he leaves with something for his time.

. . . and honestly? In canon, everyone acts blasé about the whole nerd-math-know-it-all thing and she just seemed like the type, too. Please, feel sorry for him bc no one does! But hey, at least his approach is: "*shrug* It happens all the time." As for tutoring, I just figured it was an easy place to start off with, since we should confirm if they actually would hit it off. (She's also shy, so I was not entirely sure to what extent she could tolerate his weird antics right off the bat. :"D ) In that, we're on a similar wavelength 'cause I was imagining the same by about their third meeting!

If you want, maybe we can add some variety to our little library thread by having them interrupted by a weird incident mid-way—like this school teaches would-be multidimensional villains in addition to casual students, yes? So perhaps in the middle of their tutoring, a nameless teen!villain stages a coup to take power back from these puny, arrogant teachers. They say friends are forged in fire, right! But it really depends on if you want to go with purely slice-of-life or throw in a bit of wackiness on the side. Largely because Dipper is more comfortable in wackiness, so the whole situation would warm him up to her, and he'd leave saying Lee "was pretty cool with how she handled herself back there." This could be both funny and make it easier for me to get him to be less prickly.

Sound good for a first thread: relaxing tutoring and then some comedy on the side if things go well? I'd be down for a bit of both, personally. And if you want to start the thread, that'd be awesome, sana! ♡ Thanks for volunteering, the consideration is appreciated!
